This post contains early general information, more specific info can be found here:

WT JAM     --  http://www.wickedtickle.com/index.php/board,35.0.html
WT Booth  -- http://www.wickedtickle.com/index.php/board,36.0.html

And the latest info can always be found at:
http://jamesburtonmusic.com/events.htm

Once again the first with the info,  Grin we have the lineup of performers for this year's outdoor festival:

2008 James Burton International Guitar Festival
               Party Under the Bridge
Downtown under the Texas Street Bridge

Friday, August 22nd, 2008 -only-

6PM – 7PM        Keith Horton Project – Blues

7PM  - 8PM         BB  Secrist    Honky Tonk Piano

 8PM  - 9PM         The Nomads      Rock a Billy

 9PM – 10PM       Dirtfoot  -     New Grass / Americana

10PM – 11PM      Hipshot   -   Country

11PM – 12PM    Great Log JAM!  Hosted by Wicked tickle.com

That's right, sports fans! In addition to our booth next to the festival stage promoting local music all weekend long,  WickedTickle is hosting an all-star JAM for the last hour of the Burton Festival, featuring local artists to be announced, and maybe even a headliner or two!

Here's the latest -

WT will have a booth Friday night at the Party In The District (under the bridge), featuring meet-and-greets with local artists and musicians, their promo packs and merchandise.
This will cost $5 per person to get into, but lasts all day long and includes TONS of entertainment.
WT will need some musicians and bands to volunteer to be there and meet with the fans, sell their merch, etc.
We will also have a lady doing custom t-shirt 'rip' designs onsite. You'll be able to get a really good deal on a special design if you buy a WT or JBIGF tshirt!

WT will ALSO have a booth Saturday and Sunday 10-6 at the JBIGF Trade Show at the convention center.
The trade show will cost $5 per day (Friday, Sat. Sunday) to get into, but WT will only be there Saturday and Sunday. (We're at the Party Friday)
We will be in the Media area, covering the event along with all the magazines and newspapers and TV stations!
We won't need but a couple of people to help man this booth, if any, it'll be somewhat scaled-down version of our Festival booth.
But this appearance gets WT a HUGE amount of visibility, and therefore whomever we feature, will have HUGE visibility.
This is a BIG DEAL for WT, and for the local scene, if we can make this count!

The WT Jam Friday night (at the Party In the District, 11-12 PM) is very slowly taking shape, but we need ALOT more musicians to make this thing all we want it to be. At this point, I'm even considering getting whole bands to do a song or two, and then trade off/mix it up with other folks. We'll see.
Email me at doc@wickedtickle.com if you wanna get in on this, or if you have ideas.

We don't book the bands, and we don't have any live music at our booth.
(There was a rumor last year that we were booking bands, we want to be sure to dispell that one early-on.)

Our booth is about promoting all  the great local acts who weren't lucky enough to land a spot on the stage. So if you don't get a booking, get us a promo pack and some music, and we'll make sure as many people hear it as possible. You can even help man the booth and sell your merch if you want, kiss some hands and shake some babies, that kind of thing. We grab alot of attention, being right next to the stage with our big-ass banner, waving peacock feathers and blowing on our kazoos and the like....  ;)

As far as the live show, I know that Greg Miles is currently wrapping up the booking for that end of things, you might wanna contact him directly.
He's "Lumenator" on WT, I'll see if I can dig up his email addy or phone number.

Thanks Doc,
I'll try to get in contact with him and get a pack of goodies for the booth.
We will just be getting back from New Orleans at the Cutting Edge Music Fest
(like SXSW) the week end before.

Ok....Here is whats up! I do book the outdoor regional show and handle all production on both shows. The Burtons book the national headliners and no information will be released at this time on the national show. That will be done by James and Louise at a formal press release yet to be scheduled...... The outdoor show is about show casing as much of our local talent and featuring the widest range of the musical spectrum as I can. This is about the music and the players.....It is not intended to resemble the other full blown vendor based festivals.....It is strictly about the music and fulfilling James vision to put quality guitars and instruction into the hands of the kids that want to play......This year I only had 6 time slots to fill. This means that there will not be room for everyone who wants to play ,

I wish we had 3 days and 32 time slots but I do not.....So in fairness to those who were not invited the first 2 years I must give other acts a shot. the task of featuring just 5 or 6 bands is one that troubles me greatly.

The list of bands who wanted to perform is a very long one. And I thank every one of you from the bottom of my heart.

I will realease a list of booked artist and format soon. And promise that it will be a very diverse format. There will be something for everyone. Thank you all for your support and the support of the local music scene.

Why not do a guitar camp for anyone wanting ot learn some technique they may not be able to get on their own. Sort of a day camp. I bet it would draw a lot of young folks and make good sale item for the Festival.

Good idea, JohnP, but we couldn't pull it off.
Mainly because our booth is set up right next to the stage, and you couldn't hear said technique for all the ROCKIN' going on 20 feet away.

Maybe they can work something like that into the trade-show part of the festival...I dunno.

The Guitar camp Idea is a great one....And thats kinda what the clinics at the trade show is for....Along with the intire Kids R Rockin Program....if I ever get the 3 day format back it is definitely an area we can expand on....The concern is that the outdoor show would draw from the trade show....

                                       Thanks L
