UPDATED 6/24/2008!!!

2008 James Burton International Guitar Festival
               Party Under the Bridge
11PM – 12PM    Great Log JAM    Hosted by Wicked tickle.com

That's right, sports fans!
In addition to our booth next to the festival stage promoting local music all weekend long,
WickedTickle is hosting an all-star JAM for the last hour of the Burton Festival, featuring local artists to be announced, and maybe even a headliner or two!

Yes, this time we really WILL be able to get some people onstage!!   Grin

UPDATE  8/19/08:

Stan Hoffman is now leading the jam!
Anyone who knows Stan should know that this is now be one big bad mamma-jamma of a jam!!

Anyone interested in playing at the Jam, speak up now, final plans are being laid.
We only have an hour, and we're about out of spots for jammers!

Old info:

Here are our thoughts on this Jam...

1) We want to have as many musicians as possible onstage.
We want to spread the opportunity around, so we can’t include all members of any given band.
We're also gonna make an effort to include styles other than country, rock, and blues. Reggae, anyone?  ;)

2) We Only Have One Hour, on One Night.
Not everyone who asks to play will end up onstage. We will be as fair as possible, but understand we only have one hour,
and will probably have more guitarists than we can shake a stick at, but probably not so many bassists, or bassoonists.

3) This will have to be at least semi-rehearsed.
We have to have a set list, and some kind of structure for the hour, or Charlie Foxtrot will be all over us!
(We need a place to do this. Maybe a nightclub on off-nights? Everyone involved, of course, would need to attend.)\
Bobby Black has graciously offered us Harlequin Alley to rehearse on their off nights, we can use their stage and HUGE space. Thanks Bobby!

4) No one gets to say "I don't wanna play with so-and-so".
We're not playing politics here, and if we were, we'd put Mark Tate and Doc onstage together just because.
This is about bringing people, and our local music scene, a little closer together.

These are our ideals, some of it may change depending on the response we get.

If you want to be a part of this opportunity, simply send the information on this makeshift entry form to doc@wickedtickle.com
We'll be in touch as soon as we get some entries and know what things are shaping up like.

If you are interested in participating in the Wicked Tickle Jam at the James Burton International Guitar Festival Party under the Bridge Friday night - LET US KNOW!

We also need suggestions for songs - pick 10 songs you think would put a really great end to the Party Under the Bridge!

No matter if they're true or not, a man should believe in those things because those are the things worth believing in."

Alright, I've moved/combined/edited some posts that were in confusing locations, maybe this will make things more clear...

If you wanna be part of the Jam, email me at doc@wickedtickle.com, or call my cellphone @ 518-0032.
We've already got 4 people interested, but we have room for MANY more...we have an hour, and I plan to rotate people on and offstage ALOT...we want to spread this around as much as possible!

Get at me!

Is anyone interested in helping me plan/coordinate this thing?
We've got alot to do before August 22nd.

What I need is:
1) Musicians to play it - from as many styles and genres as possible! Folks who are committed to this and will show up to rehearse a time or two.
I don't want it "choreographed", but I don't want Charlie Foxtrot running the show either!  ;)
2) Practice space - somewhere we can all meet up and go through the setlist once or twice.
I'm thinking a bar or club on off-nights? Maybe Harlequin Alley or somewhere like that, that has alot of room?
3) Suggestions on songs to do - we're looking for a good hour of classic stuff, songs people know and love.
We're gonna want to be fairly heavy on "crossover" tunes, if we can pull off the diverse group I want to have onstage.

I'll have more to add to this as we go, but that's a good start.

Rehearsal space problem solved!

Bobby Black has graciously offered us his venue, Harlequin Alley, for rehearsals.

It's centrally-located, has TONS of room for setup/teardown, and we can use their stage on off nights.

Thanks Bobby!

We still need to hear from people who want to play this thing!
Surely some of you folks who asked us about playing at BurtonFest last year are still interested??

Ideally, I want to have 3-4 drummers, 3-4 bassists, at least as many guitarists, and several singers, so that no one is onstage for more than 3-4 songs, and we're constantly swapping people on and off stage between songs. Of course, everyone gets announced when they take the stage.  Smiley This is about highlighting YOU and your abilities.

I don't want this to be thrown-together at the last minute...if we don't hear from some people soon, it might be Joker Machine  playing for an hour.  ;)
(That's a joke, I'm sure the Burton folks would object.)

Scott, I wish you could come down and do this too. I was really hoping to get some varied talent onstage for this thing, but there's been damn little response to this opportunity so far.
And it's a month away!  Undecided

Last year, when we just had the booth, I had people I didn't even know calling, writing, asking me by the droves "can you get us on stage to play this show?"

Oh, the irony.  D'oh!

I'm hoping that in a month I'm going to be on the road to Wellsville saans a prostate but other wise I'd make the trip and jam with you guys. I'd love it.

I think we have a band to 'anchor' the jam now.... INSANE FUNK TRAIN has tentatively said yes, and we're working out the details now!
If you've never heard the Funk Train, you surely don't know what you're missing. They are one of the baddest bands around.

So....who's gonna step up and jam, now that we have an AWESOME band to back it up?  music-smiley-008

I intend to sing a few, and I know a few others who plan to join us, but we could always use more local talent!

You KNOW you wanna play the James Burton Festival.... ;)
